Here’s an example of what I’m alluding to. OK, so Clinton seems to be way ahead in Pennsylvania at the moment (although, Obama will almost certainly close that gap–if not pull ahead–by April 22). But it’s gonna take more than Democrats to elect the next president; and a win among Democrats doesn’t necessarily translate to a win in the general election. Moreover, it’s hard to imagine former Clinton supporters rallying behind McCain once Obama wins the primary. Whereas we all know liberals and moderates who’d vote for McCain–or abstain–if Clinton
steals snags the nomination.
